Helplessness

People can feel helpless when someone they love is struggling with an issue. If your partner is dealing with past issues, such as sexual or physical abuse, or an accident or loss, you may feel that everything you try to do is wrong, or seems to make things worse.

If your child or teen is withdrawing from you, or showing signs of self-harm or self-neglect you may be in a state of panic that threatens to overwhelm you. This can leave you on one side with your Concern and Best Intentions and the person you love on the other, with Isolation, Anger and Despair.

How we will work to change this:

Many  people do not feel confident supporting family members with serious issues. Difficult feelings can bring up unpredictable behaviour, and destroy connections. I will help by giving you a safe place to express your feelings. We will work to discover effective ways to be supportive.
Meetings would be individual, at first, with options for family meetings later on.
For some people, a Single Session meeting might be enough. Other people may feel the need for more regular support over a period of time.

You could plan for between 1 and 8 meetings, depending on your needs. Check-ins are always an option, once the situation is stable.

Let’s spend 30 minutes talking about the options- email me at bmillerconsulting@gmail.com  to set a time for our free phone call.
