Face to Face Counselling

Individual, Couple or Family Consultation

This is the most familiar way to receive counselling service, and is the usual choice for couples and families who want to meet together. My office hours are flexible, with appointments available during the day, evening or on weekends.

What will we do?

Before the consultation we will have a half-hour phone call, which takes place free of charge. This will help us decide if we can work well together.

To schedule this free initial call, email me, or leave me a message at 416 481-2600 ext. 31, with a number and time that would be convenient for you. I will get back to you right away.

During the phone call I will answer any questions you may have about the process. You will decide who should be at our first meeting, and begin to describe the problem that you want to focus on.
I will ask you to fill out a short consultation form before our meeting either by email or in person before we meet. This will help to make the time we spend together as productive as possible.

What happens during the consultation?

Consultation with me is a focused, solution-building process. It is my job to ask thought provoking and action stimulating questions. Very often, even thinking differently about a problem will help you get closer to your valued way of living.

During our meeting, I will ask you if the conversation is useful, and if we are moving in the right direction. We will make notes together, and work for one hour to develop some useful next steps. At the end of the hour, you will decide whether or not to plan another meeting, and how soon you would like that to happen. You will keep a copy of the notes made during our session for your own use.

Then what?

You are welcome to call at any point for a further meeting if one is not already arranged. There is no expectation of a weekly commitment, and there is no set number of meetings required for service.  These decisions are up to you.

Why do you call it a ‘consultation’?

When people hire me, I work very actively to discover the habits and patterns of unwanted problems. The questions I ask and discussions we have usually stir up solutions that cause more questions, more solutions, and lots of movement! But most of the work is done by You, on your own time! I call it a consultation to make sure that we both understand my role- I am someone who will investigate, question, and reflect with you- you are the one who takes the best and most useful parts of that, and puts it to work.

What does it cost?

The fee for one hour is $95.

If, one week after we meet, you feel that the session was not useful, please call me- I will refund your full fee. Working with a counsellor can make a huge difference, but finding the right person is not always easy. I do not want to keep your fee, if it means you will stop looking for help.
